At Garden Polska, we know all there is to know about decking. Our employees are true experts who have perfected the manufacture and installation of these structures. We build both traditional and more modern, unconventional decks for our customers – including floating decks.
Floating deck – what is it?
Despite its intriguing name, this is a specific type of deck that does not, in fact, float on water. Unlike standard decks, it is built without anchoring or permanently fixing it to the ground. However, this does not mean that a floating deck is unstable – like traditional Gardpol decks, it is highly robust and durable. Floating decks are built in this distinctive way primarily so that they can remain independent of the ground or the building next to which they are located.
Floating deck – uses
A floating deck has many advantages. It works well on private properties, as well as at commercial premises and public-use facilities. It can serve as:
- a rooftop deck, where anchoring is not possible; this makes it possible to create an elegant, functional space beyond the area around the house;
- a deck above a garage, where it is suitable for the same reasons;
- a garden deck – particularly on properties where anchoring and carrying out the necessary excavation work would be very difficult or impossible.
A floating deck can also be built next to a restaurant, a swimming pool and in other public spaces.
The main advantages of floating decks
The floating decks we build at Garden Polska are modern structures with many advantages. This is why they are increasingly chosen by Gardpol customers across Poland. Above all, this type of structure is particularly easy to install. Installing floating decks is far less complicated (and therefore quicker) than installing traditional structures. This also means that ordering this type of deck involves lower costs. A floating deck is therefore a suitable solution for anyone looking for an attractive, functional option while working to a limited budget.
Installing a floating deck avoids time-consuming so-called wet work, such as mixing mortar. This makes the whole structure less susceptible to adverse weather conditions. In addition, a floating deck made from decking boards is raised and therefore ventilated. Excess water also drains away from underneath it more easily. As a result, there is a much lower risk of fungus and mould developing.
This type of deck can also be dismantled easily and quickly if the need arises. This is one of the reasons why it works so well as a seasonal structure at food-service premises.
