What types of composite decking boards are there?
PVC, HDPE and PP composite decking boards differ in many ways, from their properties to their applications. PVC composite decking boards, made from polyvinyl chloride, are exceptionally resistant to moisture and changing temperatures, making them an excellent choice for heavily used spaces such as restaurant gardens. What is more, PVC is a recyclable material, making it a perfect fit for current environmental trends.
HDPE and PP composite decking boards, made from polyethylene or polypropylene, are less resistant to abrasion and mechanical damage than PVC. For this reason, they are better suited to areas with less foot traffic. However, their advantages include a lower price and easier production, which may be beneficial for people on a limited budget. Composite decking boards are used, among other things, to make:
- pergolas,
- terraces,
- cladding,
- walls,
- balconies,
- stairs,
- balustrades,
- fences.
It is also important to distinguish between boards intended for cladding and those used to finish stairs. Composite cladding boards are more refined, allowing for easier and quicker installation thanks to special clips and trims.
