Composite joists SELECT, DUO and PREMIUM – a durable base for your decking

Composite joists are the foundation of every stable, long-lasting decking structure. Whatever decking board model you choose, the right joist is key to straightforward installation and the long life of the whole structure. Three types of composite joists are available: SELECT, DUO and PREMIUM. Each has its own technical characteristics, so you can choose the right one for your individual needs and installation conditions.

SELECT composite joists

The SELECT model is a lightweight, hollow joist made from a wood-plastic composite. It is ideal for areas with good drainage, for example, decking installed on concrete blocks or garden edging kerbs. SELECT is an economical option that provides reliable support for decking boards while meeting essential strength requirements.

DUO composite joists

DUO is a twin-chamber composite joist, combining low weight with greater mechanical strength. Thanks to its reinforced construction, it is ideal for installation on adjustable pedestals, where greater resistance to pressure and stability are required. This is a versatile option for anyone looking for a balance between price and durability.

PREMIUM composite joists

PREMIUM is the most durable joist in the range. Made from a solid, robust composite profile, it offers the highest resistance to loads and weather conditions. It is ideal for projects on difficult ground, for example, on uneven ground, where adjustable decking pedestals are used. PREMIUM gives you confidence that your decking will remain stable for many years.

STANDARD composite joists

STANDARD is a versatile composite joist with a rectangular cross-section, designed for most standard decking structures. Made from a high-quality wood-plastic blend, it offers good resistance to moisture, temperature fluctuations and UV radiation. It is an excellent choice both for those building a home deck and for commercial projects where durability at a reasonable price matters.

Installation methods for composite joists

1. Installation on adjustable pedestals

This is the most popular installation method for raised decking. Decking pedestals make it possible to level the joists precisely without the need for a complicated sub-base. This makes them ideal for DUO and PREMIUM joists, which provide greater structural rigidity. The pedestals are weather-resistant and allow the height to be adjusted from a few centimetres to several dozen centimetres.

2. Installation on concrete blocks

Concrete blocks are a traditional, economical way to install joists on stable, prepared ground. They should be placed at intervals of 30–50 cm, depending on the type of joist and the intended load. This installation method works particularly well with SELECT or DUO.

3. Installation on garden edging kerbs

Concrete kerbs provide durable, attractive support for joists. This option is often used in gardens where the decking needs to blend in with the existing surface. Composite joists can be fixed directly to the kerbs with expansion bolts, providing stability and durability.

Summary

Composite joists SELECT, STANDARD, DUO and PREMIUM are products suited to a range of needs and installation conditions. Whether you are planning a quick installation on blocks, a durable structure on pedestals or an attractive solution on kerbs, we offer the right joist for your decking. Remember, choosing the right joist is an investment in the longevity and safe use of your deck.
